Submitting suspicious file(s) from AntiVir Quarantine manually


If you isolated a suspicious file with the detection status HEUR in Quarantine, or if you suspect a false positive, you can send us these quarantine files, even without setting an SMTP server.

First make sure that the Quarantine list contains only the suspicious file(s). You should delete older files from the Quarantine. The AntiVir Quarantine directory is located in Windows 2000/XP in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\, and in Windows Vista in C:\ProgramData\:

  • ...\AntiVir Workstation\INFECTED\
  • ...\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\INFECTED\
  • ...\AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium\INFECTED\
  • ...\Avira Premium Security Suite\INFECTED\

Hint: If the Application Data folder is hidden, go to Tools - Folder Options - View and select the option "Show hidden files and folders".

You can send us the file(s) from these directories, using your usual email client, as attachment and with a description to virus@avira.com or using the online upload form on our website.
