Incompatibility warning after installing AntiVir on Windows 7


If you install an older version of Avira AntiVir on Windows 7, an incompatibility warning appears after the installation.

When you open AntiVir Control Center, you can see that the Online protection and the AntiVir Guard are deactivated.

To solve this problem, click Start update in AntiVir Control Center and confirm the command. You do not have to reactivate your license. The update is free of charge. The product update finishes with a Windows restart. Afterwards, AntiVir is completely active and the problem solved.

Alternatively, you can download the newest version of AntiVir from our website and install it. To do this, take the following steps:

  1. Go to Start - Control Panel - Uninstall program
  2. Double-click the name of the Avira AntiVir software
  3. Click Yes, to confirm
  4. Restart the computer
  5. Download the desired AntiVir product from our website, free of charge:
    http://www.avira.com/en/download/index.html
  6. Use your current Activation Code or license file during the installation.

After completing the installation, AntiVir will be fully functional on Windows 7.
