Why is ESET Remote Administrator Server not updating to the most recent virus signature database?


Occasionally, ESET Remote Administrator Server fails to update to the most current version of the virus signature database. To correct this issue, it may be necessary to clear the mirror and the update files on the server. To remove these files and resume updates, follow the steps below:


  1. Right-click Start and click Explore from the context menu.

    Navigate to and delete the contents of the following folders:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\Updfiles
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\Charon
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\Mirror

    NOTE: If you do not see these folders, confirm that you can see hidden files and folders by clicking Start/Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab and selecting the Show hidden files and folders option.

    Windows Vista and Windows 7 users: Navigate to and delete the contents of the following folders:

    C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\updfiles
    C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\charon
    C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\mirror

    NOTE: If you do not see these folders, confirm that you can see hidden files and folders by  clicking Start/Control Panel/Appearance and Personalizations/Show hidden files and folders under Folder Options and select the Show hidden files and folders option.

  2. In the ESET Remote Administrator Console menu, click Tools/Server Options… and select the Updates tab.

  3. Select the Clear Update Cache check box and click Update Now. Click OK.
